SMEAR. I write SMEAR because it’s a dope ass name.

RTH, and some others.

3. HOW LONG YOU’VE BEEN WRITING/TAGGING/PAINTING/DOING ART?

I’ve been doing this shit since 1989, started with cheap-ass little markers around my block.

4. WHERE DID YOU GROW UP, AND HOW DID GRAFFITI BECOME A PART OF YOUR LIFE?

I grew up in the East Hollywood neighborhood of Los Angeles. Graffiti became a part of my life because it was so fun to do, and it’s addictive. It’s the crack of petty criminal acts.

5. WHO/WHAT HAS BEEN YOUR BIGGEST INSPIRATION AND MOTIVATION?

Bukowski. Ha! You thought I’d mention some writers or someshit, huh? Na, not today, I’m not feeling kiss assish at the moment.

6. HOW HAS BEING IN GRAFFITI CULTURE CHANGED YOUR LIFE?

It isn’t so much that it changed my life, it was my life for a large chunk of it. It molded my life.

7. WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE MEDIUM TO PAINT ON? THE STREETS, IN THE STUDIO, ETC.

The streets.

8. WHERE WOULD YOU BE IN LIFE RIGHT NOW IF YOU NEVER PICKED UP A PAINTBRUSH/MARKER/SPRAY CAN?

Who knows? Maybe rich and comfortable, maybe homeless and stinking of stale piss. Maybe dead. Maybe I’d be the mayor of Cincinnati.

I love pussy.

SMEAR and I go way back, since before the internet was a thing. I learned a lot from him, both in the graff game and street knowledge. SMEAR is one of the most intelligent, well-read, grimiest street tagging kings to have ever done it. He’s not only like a brother to me, but SMEAR was also co-founder of STREET-FAME and the world-famous RTH crew.
